How to pick the perfect restaurant

If you’re looking to plan a perfect meal, the biggest choice you have to make is which restaurant to book with. A restaurant can make or break your meal, it can be the difference between the perfect evening, or a disastrous one. Picking a restaurant isn’t always an easy thing to do, there are so many restaurants available, all offering different cuisines, in a variety of settings, with various options. Before you can choose a restaurant, you need to think about what you want from your meal, what kind of meal it is and therefore, which restaurant would be most suitable. A business meal, for example, will require a different setting to a romantic date or a family celebratory meal.

Location of the restaurant

Location is very important, you need to make sure your guests will be able to get to the restaurant. If you have any plans for after the meal, you ideally need a restaurant which is located closely to the after-event. At the same time, the restaurant should ideally be in a new location, if you choose a very familiar location, the meal won’t feel special or significant. Another thing to consider are the views, a good view can make your dining experience a memorable one.

Cuisine options

Restaurants all offer differing cuisines. You have Thai food options, Chinese cuisine, Mexican, Italian, Indian, Greek... the options are endless. Equally, there are restaurants that offer multiple cuisine options. Before you decide on a cuisine, think about your guest(s) and find out what their preference is. Also think about whether they are the kind of person who enjoys trying new things.

Ambience

Different restaurants have a different ambience. The perfect ambience for you depends on the reason behind the meal. As we discussed, a romantic meal for two will require a different ambience to a business deal. Think about your purpose, your reason for the meal and what you hope to achieve, and find a restaurant that has an ambience which is perfectly suited to your specific needs.

Choose a restaurant

Price

Another thing to consider when choosing a restaurant is price. Every restaurant will be priced differently. There is some expectation that a price will reflect the quality of the food and the experience, but this isn’t always the case. Do your research, find a restaurant that is comfortably within your price range but also one that is priced fairly and reflects the quality of food and service.

Service

The kind of service you receive can make the meal very enjoyable, or incredibly disappointing. The best way to determine the quality of service from a restaurant you’ve never been to before, is to research and read other people’s honest reviews. Another idea is to go for a meal at your chosen restaurant before your planned meal, to check the quality of service for yourself, and/or to ask questions when you book as to what the service protocol is and how the restaurant ensures quality service.

Privacy

Some restaurants are incredibly busy and offer limited privacy, whereas others are quieter and more secluded. Depending on the reason for your meal, it may not be an issue, but if this is a business meeting, or a romantic date, you may want a little bit more privacy.

How to find perfect restaurant

Arts and culture

Some restaurants will display exquisite artwork, others will have live entertainment, some will play music. Different restaurants reflect different cultures, often this is tied to the cuisine they serve. For a full and fun dining experience, you should look into what cultural influences restaurants have and what you (and your guests) might enjoy.

Beverages

Wine is generally a typical addition to a meal, so it is a good idea to find a restaurant that has a good wine menu. However, not all people are wine drinkers, some might actually prefer a nice cocktail, or a cider. Some people may not drink alcohol at all, which means you’ll need to find a restaurant that has a good soft beverage option. Think about what kind of drinks your guests like and take this into consideration when booking your restaurant.

The most important thing to consider is the person/people you are going to be dining with. A restaurant choice should be personal to you and your guest, by choosing the perfect setting, you’re more likely o have the perfect meal and the perfect evening.
